Having too much dust clogged up outside your condensing unit will stop the suction and the condensing unit might get overheated & cut off, by then your indoor units will not be producing anymore cold air. 
It is recommended that you have outdoor condensing unit cleaned at least once a year. This can help to maintain the performance of your AC units.
